I think (I may be wrong) it is no longer necessary to do a quest to get rituals from the gods. You simply have to pick the god you want, pray to him/her at the high altar (I think) to become a worshipper of that god, and then raise faith to 5, and faith.rituals to maybe 7. Then, go to the religious instructor, and he'll give you cure light wounds and one other ritual, depending on the god. You won't actually be able to cure yourself very well until you get fa.ri.cure.self up to about 15 or 20.
Wizards (and probably witches) can't do this, and you can't worship a god first and then go join the wizards.
