No personal experience with this quest, but this might help (or not):

*Take a deep breath (in real life...) and "look over ledge". It will give way and you will plummet down the cliff and break both legs.
*Your character will suffer MASSIVE damage, have all his physical stats raized to the ground and will now take damage whenever he moves from room to room (yeouch!).
*NB USE SANCTUARY TO LOOSE NONE AT ALL (also if you have high enough dex and co.st.ou and ot.cl.ro u can survive the fall with no injury.)
*Drag yourself NW until you come to a skeleton (hidden). Get the sapphire out of the skeleton's hand.

BTW I've seen this sapphire for sale in the Player shop on the Plaza a few times. Just buy it there if you dont like your legs broken :p
