Subject: Coach to KT

Hi all. Im intending to visit redang in May and need some info abt the coach to KT. If there are not enough pple taking the coach to KT, will they cancel it? Cause I understand that most coach will only go if the min. no. of pple is met. For Transnasional, do they terminate at KT bus terminal or will they bring us to the Merang jetty? If not, we will have to take own transport to the jetty right? Thanx

Transnasional will drop you off at KT Tanjung bus station. If you are on a resort/travel package that includes jetty transfer from KT to Merang, then they'll pick you up at the bus station. If this is not included, resorts will charge a small fee for the transfer - enquire with the resort you are staying at. You should let the resort know what time you're arriving and on which coach so they can pick you up.

As for coach companies cancelling trips due to too few people, that's certainly possible but unlikely esp. if it's a regular scheduled service. Haven't experienced that with Transnasional... yet.

Thanx for your reply. Need somemore info abt Transnasional
1. Is it 3-seats is a row? or 4?
2. Any seat number? Cause intending to take the coach at Lakin, and I saw from ur diary that the coach departs from Spore then to Lakin
3. Can I buy the tickets at Spore if Im taking from Lakin? Or have to go to Lakin to buy the tickets?
4. How long is the journey? 9? 11? How many stops there are?

Sorry that Im asking alot of qns. Just want to be prepared. Thanx for help! Btw, your website is very helpful and informative

The normal Transnasional coach is usually 3 in a row with about 12 rows. They may change coaches depending on circumstances e.g. breakdown, fewer passengers etc. Passengers have assigned seat numbers though you can swap seats with other passengers if they're willing (or shift to any available empty seats once the coach moves off).

Not sure if they'll sell Larkin to KT from Singapore - even if they did, they'll charge you in S$; due to forex rate, it'll probably be cheaper for you to buy at Larkin and pay in RM.

Journey takes about 10 hrs depending on Causeway traffic. There's usually about 2 stops for refreshment/toilet break - used to be at Machap & somewhere near Kemaman (around midnight and 3:30am, but place can change) - but you can always request urgent toilet stops if needed and they'll stop at the next town or petrol station. Don't drink too much (bus can be quite cold at night) and you'll be ok :)
