It is possible. To cut cost down. But I doubt it. It more likely that they ran out of beach towels or even bath towels due to lundry issues. I suggest calling the resort to confirm and put this myth to rest.

I called Laguna two weeks ago to find out if there were King sized beds and I am glad I did, there were indeed King sized beds in most of their rooms. Was at Redang last weekend, Friday to Sunday.

In 2002 September and October, the beach towels were in limited quantity at Coral Island Redang Resort which is next to Pelangi.

In 2004 August, beach towels were very limited at Blue Coral Island Resort at Pulau Lang Tengah.

So it is possible for bath towels to ran out but that would mean bad business for the resort operator.
