Subject: Laguna Resort

Yeah, we were at Laguna Resort in May and it was comfortable in terms of having same experience from a township or city like accomodations. I had to stop myself from watch the t.v. In 2002, we stayed at Coral Redang and there was no t.v. in the room. No distractions like phones, mobile coverage, newspapers, in-room safe, radio, city noises from automobiles, motorbikes, airplanes, cranes, construction, fun-fairs, urban living...

A total new experience for me on Redang which ironically is quite the same experience we get at Bali or Phuket. Disco, lights, food court, hawkers, sourvenir-convenient stores, the 'micro'-marts are now upmarket mini-marts.

Man, too many city comforts and thus many distractions.

It would not be that way if and only if Laguna was the only resort on Pasir Panjang beach. Like Palau Tiga where the first survivor reality-t.v. programme was located, there is currently only one resort operator. Got this info off a Come-Visit-Sabah-Sarawak brochure taken from a travel fair in May.

Modern living and modern technology does that. It just takes away everything else and builds it up with what we already had, have and having the same or similar experiences at home or at work.

Luckily, we still have the marine life at the housereefs, Tanjung Tengah - Shark Bay and the other Tanjung and little surrounding islands.

One suggestion though, we heading back to Redang again this month. Yeah, we're were there for 3 days and 2 nights at Laguna and guess what we heading back there again. For the sake of my brother and sister in-law with their young boy and for our daughter's sake who only 2 this year. The importance of having children friendly infrastructure supersedes my self-focused personal preference. I was told once, "Life's a beach than you marry one". Don't I know it now :)))) *grinning* For the family, what can I say.

Family first, self second. I come first when I am up at 6 or 7 am and head for the empty beach and into the water! That's one secret I want to share with folks who have to deal with the ever pressing built-up of urban sprawl, or should I call it resort-sprawl? Mmmm... anyway, best of both worlds, I'm self-focused between 6/7 AM to 9 AM and then back to the family again. Otherwise, I strongly recommend it is best to look for another isolated or under 'develope' island with one resort or no sign of resort sprawling. Pasir Panjang is now like the Sarge Major fishes crowding for bread-handouts ;) Who knows, Redang 2005 could be the last year for me to visit and revisit. 2006 could be another location if the attraction and appeal fades :(

To Stress-free Relaxation, Rest and Recreation.

Cuti-cuti!
