Subject: Time Schedule

Hello,

I will be visiting Redang in June and I notice there is a big gap in the time schedule between the bus departure time and the ferry on my way home. The ferry will leave the island at 1300hrs and my bus home is at 2030hrs, is there any recommendations that I can do at Kuala Trengganu during this 6 - 7hours? Is there any facilities available for me to store my luggage while I wonder off for the mainland sightseeing?

Does the resort arrange private ferry at our specified timing? I was thinking of extending the checkout time so that I can take the late evening ferry back to the mainland and just in time to catch the bus home. But it seems that the last ferry for the day is at 1300hrs.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

KL

There is a baggage counter at the bus station. You just pay them a few ringgit and store your baggage there - they'll look after it for you (just bring your valuables with you). Depending on which resort you are staying in, some of them have offices in the mainland where they allow you to leave your baggage while you tour the city.

Most resort ferries will leave in the morning or after lunch. If your group is sufficiently large, I suppose you can try making specific arrangements with the resort to check out later. But bear in mind that ferry schedules also depend on the tide and sea conditions - they'll usually avoid low tides (difficulty entering the Merang river due to shallow sandbanks) or rough seas.

As for sightseeing in KT, you can try the central market or even the state museum (if I'm not mistaken, it is the largest in the country) or just go for local hawker food (nasi dagang is my favourite!) or one of the seafood restaurants.
