Subject: It's hard enough to rin a system, paying everything out of your own pocket and only making any of it up if you get good numbers. It's not cheap and very few directors make any money at it at all.
In reply to: New Poster 's message, "Let's start a new conversation. Everyone is welcome to join in. Please refrain from rude comments if someone doesn't agree with your opinion. We can be civil!" on 15:12:01 05/07/02 Tue

Then you add in all the political garbage about who coaches who and who wins what, plus getting criticized and bashed at every turn no matter who wins. If someone well-known wins, someone screams RIGGED, and if someone not well-known wins, someone screams about that too and decides not to do your pageants anymore.

Take all that and toss in the people who spend thousands on a dress, and hair and makeup and coaches and photographers, but yell bloody murder if they think the pageant director makes a DIME off the event they spend so much to compete in.

And there's more... all the time and money spent working on putting on a pageant instead of spending that time with your own family and that money on your own kids. So the question shouldn't be why are so many people quitting directing pageants, but why anyone would put up with all that to be a director in the first place?
