Subject: McGinnis, Co Sligo; Boston; MN

I've traced my Irish ancestors to Thomas McGinnis and Anne Kennedy from Co. Sligo. I believe they were married in 1808 and lived in Drumderry townland in Kilmacallan parish at the time of the Tithe Applotment. A Patrick McGuiness lived in the same townland, but I don't know how he was related. By the time of Griffiths Valuation both were gone from this
area though there were still some McGinnis families listed in Co. Sligo. I've located the baptism records for Thomas McGinnis' ten children in a Taunagh (Riverstown) Catholic church book. Nine of them immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts beginning around 1845. They eventually settled in Houston county Minnesota. One girl, Ann, remained in Ireland and married a Fryer sometime before 1887.
