Subject: McGinnis/Lee Connection

When I started researching my "McGinnis" family geneology, I found it really interesting that there were so many variations on the spelling but it made perfect sense. I have read many times that when people came to America, their names were written down the way they pronounced them rather than with the correct spelling.
I also found three separate spellings of the surname "Lee" in a family cemetary in Hornet, Missouri. All three are related to each other.
My gggrandfather was William R. McGinnis who married Eliza Lee. I have found McGinnis ancestors from VA/Tennesee to Newton County, MO to Paris, TX. I am from Joplin, MO.
There are also "McGinnis" graves in the "George Washington Carver National Memorial" in Diamond, MO. From the info I have, Moses Carver married Rebecca McGinnis.
Anyone with any connections, don't hesitate to email me.
