The Warrior vs Taker feud was one of the most awesome of it's time despite most of the matches being carried out on house shows. On one hand you had the virtually indestructible Ultimate Warrior who had torn through almost all of the wrestlers on the WWF roster effortlessly. On the other hand you had a virtual newcomer in the dark, mysterious Undertaker. He was still very much an unknown quantity when feuding with Warrior and one of the reasons he was seen as being dangerous was because so little was known about him. Their feud served alot of purposes.

1)It got the Undertaker over as a major heel and a credible threat to any of the main eventers.

2)Secondly it got 'Takers creation "The Casket Match" over.

3)By acting scared of the casket it made Warrior seem more human and therefore a little more appealing to the fans. It was regarded at the time that Warrior needed to show some human frailty to get way over with the fans and this is how WWE chose to go about it.

4)It facilitated Jake The Snake Roberts heel turn. "Because I'm a snake. Never trust a snake" is one of the qoutes from WWF TV that I will never forget.

5)It eventually led to Taker turning face. When Jake Roberts asked him "Just whose side are you on"? Taker replied "Not yours".

It is a pity most of the matches were at house shows as they could have made this feud HUGE. Warrior actually went over in most of them. Taker did win his share of them too but WWF only put on TV what they believed served the storyline best.
