Subject: SIB & Everyone Else, Read This Post on Warrior and the Tabloids!
In reply to: NeoViper723 's message, "Re: Old Tabloid Story of Warrior?" on 20:09:19 07/10/03 Thu

I think the reason why the promoter of the now defunct OMEGA(Organization of Extreme and Modern Grappling Arts) made that false statement about Warrior was out of jealousy(in my opinion). OMEGA was an independent wrestling promotion that mainly focused on high flying/high risk style wrestling such as over the top stunts like the kind we see from the former OMEGA stars Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Jerry Lynn, The Hurricane, Shannon Moore, and current NWA-TNA Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles. Wrestlers who do not use the high flying style of wrestling are in the eyes of the former OMEGA promoter, untalented, worthless, and have no place in wrestling.

That statement is bullshit. Kurt Angle is a prime example of why the former OMEGA promoter's point of view is false. Kurt Angle is probably if not the best pound for pound wrestler in WWE today, yet he doesn't have to rely on high risk moves. Angle's mat technician style of wrestling does enough to thrill the fans and has established him as on of if not the "top wrestler to keep an eye on". I have not seen Angle compete in many bad matches, being that he is capable of having a good match with just about anyone. Some of the guys who competed for OMEGA(which was based out of the Hardy Boyz's hometown Cameron, North Carolina) prior to it's demise early last year, including Christopher Dream, Dexter Poindexter, Alexx Stone, and Jason Parker are all superb high flyers whom put on great matches, but they all have to rely on one high risk move after the other through their entire matches just to keep the fans' attentions. After about ten minutes into a match, the high flying/high risk moves get kind of stale and lose their breaktaking value. None of the former OMEGA guys, with the exception of Krazy K, can wrestle the traditional technical mat wrestling style. Krazy K(now mainly competing in North and South Carolina) is the only former OMEGA star that I can gurantee will be future WWE competitor. He is the best high flyer not wrestling for NWA-TNA or WWE. Plus, Krazy K can wrestle with submission and traditional mat technician moves so he can save his spectacular leaps and jumps for the best and the times when he knows people least expect to see those moves.

I'm sure you are all asking what everything I have written about OMEGA has to do with the Ultimate Warrior is simple. Warrior was a power wrestler and the brawling type. Warrior relied on power moves like the gorilla press slam, armbars, clotheslines, shoulder tackles, piledrivers, and body splashes. The former OMEGA promoter thinks that Warrior never had the right to be in the wrestling business. That promoter would have never allowed Warrior to compete for OMEGA, which was around when Warrior got his start on the independent wrestling circuit. The thing is, OMEGA's loss was our gain! The gain of all of us true Warrior believers and followers! There's all different kinds of wrestlers and so many wrestling styles out there today, that some wrestlers and promoters get jealous of wrestlers whose styles differ from that of their own. The reason why Ultimate Warrior got a lot of the negative criticism in the tabloids when he was World Wrestling Federation Champion was due in part to wrestling traditionalists who hated how Vince McMahon and the WWF/E had made wrestling a mainstream stage spectacle attraction. Since Warrior was champion at the time those tabloid articles were written, the critics chose to put all the blame on him by making up the homosexual allegations. Hope I summed everything up with this post. For those who read this, thanks for taking the time to do so despite that this post is so long.

Always Believing,
TCB aka Tighe Bowers
