That's your quote up there... BUT,

When Kane first came in the WWE, his name was Isaac Yankem... the dentist with bad teeth. It was one of the worst gimmick ever in the WWE and it didn't work at all (like The Goon, The Repo Man, Bastion Booger, etc...)!
Don't get me wrong, Kane is one of my favourite, but gimmicks are invented by a bunch of guys who try their best to create something that poeple are gonna like. Kane and Yankem are the same man, but not the same wrestler. One is working very well and the other never did...

Your right the gimmick era is over. Why? because the fans got tired of that in the mid 90's and the WWF almost went bankrupt.
I think they're trying to let the wrestlers ''become'' their gimmick instead of imposing it like in the past (the best example: John Cena... and also The Rock, who evolved from Rocky Maivia to The great One). That way the wrestler is much more credible in his role, rather than taking a chance with a gimmick that's not gonna work anyway...
My point is the WWE is trying hard to give the Fans what they want and that includes bringing them charismatic and succesful wrestlers.
It is not possible for the Warrior to return for numerous reasons... one of it being he always wanted to be on top. He would never accept to play a second hand role in the WWE like Hogan is doing right now.
Why is Hogan accepting it? Because he's realist. Because he wants to wrestle and be cheered so much he's willing to do it even if he's not on the top of his game anymore. Why? because he loves and respect his fans and he knows we wanna see him wretle until he dies....
The Warrior... forget about it...
