EPL- reverend abolitionist from Illinois,not content to assail slavert,impugned the chasity of Catholic women. His printing press was proken 4 times and in 1837 he was killed by a mob.
22. He couldn't stomach the dictatorial tactics of Jackson.
23.He belonged to the minority of the democratic party and was put on ticket to attract such people who were mostly southern gentry.
25. He had the Tariff bill redrafted and knocked the the tariff to the level it was in 1832 of 32%. Even though he didn't like the tariff he knew the tresuary needed the additional money.
27. Whigs feared that Texas in the union would help give the slave states more power in the government.
