Subject: Wrestling Radio Talk vs WHFR-FM

The RingSide Edge has been carrying the news of local independents for years now, but in late July it all comes to an end.

But I don’t believe the voice of independent wrestling, and wrestling in general has to come to an end.

For those who do not know who I am, everyone calls me Laura Phoenix. I have been a wrestling fan for a long time and more recently I have become Great Lakes Wrestling’s ring announcer.

Like myself, Dan Merritt, WHFR DJ and co-producer of this project, and a few other people feel that Michigan independents need a voice. That is why Dan and I are in talks with Henry Ford Community College’s radio station 89.3 WHFR-FM Dearborn.

WHFR has a weak signal, but they also do Internet streaming at whfr.fm, which would help us reach those of you viewing this from outside the area.

However, there is a problem. WHFR’s advisor and management does not believe that a radio talk show about Professional Wrestling would have the listeners nor the format for a two hour weekly spot. To top it off, it’s a student run station, but yet it’s the station’s faculty advisor that is putting the nix on the whole idea.

That is where you the fans and you the wrestlers and anyone else who loves this business come into play.

We need your help by e-mailing WHFR and telling them that Michigan Independent Wrestling needs and wants a voice. That wrestling is more popular than the advisor and management believe.

The Station advisor’s name is Jay Korinek, you can e-mail him at jkorinek@hfcc.net and the Program Director’s name is Robb Campau, his e-mail is whfr-pd@hfcc.net. And e-mail WHFR itself at whfr@hfcc.net. Tell them you want this show and why. Tell them that a lot of people would be more than willing to listen every week. Get your voice out there so we can get our voice out there to you.

If you have any questions PLEASE feel free to email me at LauraLPhoenix@hotmail.com or contact me through AOL Instant Messenger at QueenPhx2.

Let WHFR know that the voice of wrestling is louder than they think.

Thank you so much in advance,

Laura Phoenix
