Isn't this upsetting? Apparently the last time this kind of foot and mouth disease epidemic hit Europe was about 67 years ago. It just had to happen at the same time as worlds.

But apparently there is hope. If they announce on Monday that they won't be holding the championships in Dublin chances are they will announce another site and not cancel them entirely. I heard that Portugal was a likely alternative a few days ago but today I read that Italy or Sweden are more likely. I guess there isn't much anyone can do about it but it really is too bad.

That's all I know about the situation. If anyone has any more info that would be great.

ps - I was talking to my sister and apparently Athletics Canada hasn't had any type of correspondence with the athletes about the situation. Way to go!
