Subject: The Problems...

The problems are very apparent but getting on this board doesnt do any good if you dont also show up at the club meetings (yes we know, not everyone can attend the club meetings every time there is one for whatever reason). Who to blame?... I can tell you who. Blame ALL the Club Members...PERIOD! Its like so many things we have seen over the years. Without much thought put into it, a motion is made to do some thing drastic and BAM... its voted on and its passed. 20-25 club member show up (or less) and they end up making most of the decisions because they are the ones that come and vote.

Being a club owned track hasn't been without its problems for sure. Year after year things happen that do not make sense. Remember when there was a guard rail voted on for the infield... 1998-99? (thank goodness that never happened). How about the front stretch cone restart when all other tracks in the NMMA were using the rule book start and many more "not so practical" proposals. Look at this years track tire rule. NO you cant blame any one person, but as a whole, the general membership needs to slow down, look at whats best for the entire club and not just whats best for them. Talk and have serious discussion about these items, take a while to decide them... not 3 minutes! Consider tabling a proposal for the next meeting or form a committee to present it to the club members giving both pro/con reasons for why it would be good or not.

Our goal as a club is to have a good atmosphere at the race track and one where no one person controls the decisions of the club. Its a great idea, but some how its gotten off kilter and needs to be managed by all of us better in the future.

Okay...lastly I would like to talk about the "pay". Its been a sore subject this year and I dont understand why. The payout has always been decided by the BOARD members. (I could be wrong) but I always thought there were minutes written on the pay scale so if its changed from that then that wasnt right and should be looked into. The board should come up with a fair sliding pay scale depending on how many cars show up to race in each particular class and also look into the costs associated to running each class competitively. Thats how it was always done. Good thought and discussion should come from people from every class. Not just from 1 or 2 people that make claims that may or may not be accurate. Hearing claims that all the fans in the stands are there for the singles and that a single costs as much to build as a multi (yes... i've been told these things by a couple of "singles" racers) Hey guys, its not Us against You... we are a club and it doesnt matter what class you are in we should race as one.
