I believe the idea behind disallowing nose wings on the A and R class is to further unhook the cars; thus, keeping the class affordable for the future. When you take off a properly mounted (actually working) nose wing; you remove downforce from the front tires and unbalance the car (car gets pushy) – this will force you to move the top wing forward to rebalance the car (loosen the car). I personally believe the idea would have been a good move – IF they would have KEPT the LEFT REAR tire rule intact!

Why we went back to soft left rear tires and allow a wider rear track width, but at the same time remove the nose wings and allow increased engine work is yet another (in a long line) of rule creation with no thought for the future economics of this sport!

Look, I am a wing builder (seller) that agrees with the removal of the nose wings from the “stock” engine classes, but to also allow 15” RR wheels, wider rear track width, and soft LR tires completely contradicts the idea behind the new rule! Every August and January rules meetings brings new light to how backwards thinking this organization remains.

On a side note:
For you worrying about sponsor space on the car – the rule says no NOSE WINGS – it does not say anything about what type of body panels you can attach to the downtubes to regain that space (think nose wing sidepanels without an airfoil) – get creative!!!
