NEVER scrimp on safety equipment!

Have you ever seen what nylon does when exposed to heat? These cars are FAST and inherently difficult to escape from quickly. You need all the protection possible.

If you are running a 250cc single - there is a little less safety concern due to the lack of a 12V battery and the use of vacuum pulse fuel pumps, but you should still get a SNELL SA helmet for added confidence.

If you are running a 600cc car - the potential for fire is elevated due to the battery, electric fuel pump and the FACT that the engine may throw oil onto the headers when it tosses a rod. Fire safety should not be taken lightly with a 600cc car!

The SNELL SA rating is not ONLY for fire retardent - it is also for increased resistance to blunt impact and they have improved (thicker) face shields. Basically, they are a RACING helmet where an M rated helmet is for casual road use.

Buy a SNELL SA helmet AND use a nomex (or carbon-X) headsock! It is MUCH cheaper then spending days in the burn ward! Also, be sure your neck brace is flame retardent - don't use a go-kart (nylon) neck brace.

Welcome to Sweet Springs - These cars are an absolute BLAST to drive - your gonna love it!

Bill
