Yes. The velcro strap will make the g-shock look bigger. For one thing the strap is wide and the watch also "pokes out" from your wrist when you wear the watch. The G-shock G-lide brand of watches is a good exemple and as I told Germanie, take a look att the Tamara Brinkman pictures on this site to see what it looks like!

There are other types of G-shock watches that are bigger in size as well, for example the Riseman. Imagine that with a velcro strap and you've got yourself a very big and very nice watch to wear!
