Subject: Cleaning a Baby-G?

Greetings all. I have a problem that I'm hoping someone here might be able to help with.

My wife owns three Baby-G watches. One is relatively new (purchased last year) and has a clear case/band. That one still looks just fine, but the other two are a few years older and are starting to seriously show their age. One is purple, one is blue, and both have bands made of some kind of resin material and shaded semi-transluscent plastic cases as far as I can tell.

The best way I can describe what's happening is that they're starting to look "cruddy." Almost as if they are just dirty, but the discoloration doesn't simply wipe off like dirt would. I'm wondering whether there is some special cleaning agent that might restore the watches at least partially to their original colors? I've tried simple soap and water to little avail, but I have been hesitant to try any harsher chemical cleaners without knowing the potential implications.

Does anyone know if there is something we can do, or should I simply buy new watches? :-) If the latter is the case, is there something that can be done with these to prevent or at least slow the discoloration process?

Thanks much in advance!
