Subject: Backwards Strap

What is the deal, or maybe I am just not hip enough out here in cowboy country, but why is it so popular to have the strap backwards on a watch.
I have noticed more and more people around the area (and the new Ashley Simpson Photos show this too), who have their watchstrap reversed of how it normally should be. By that I mean the tag end, or tail comes out toward the body instead of away from the body. So the buckle is on the outside of the wrist instead of on the inside.
For some reason I don't like the look of this, I don't know why, I just don't. It seems to be the trend though and I was wondering if anybody out there knows where this came from, or why you see more people wearing them this way.

L8R,

WyCowboy
