Chapter 79
Still at Jackie’s house, Des shook her head
Des: I cannot believe he played me for that bitch! That girl been tagging me from the day she stepped into that school! Okay she wants Lami, she’s done the one thing I cannot compete with, have his baby, and guess what she can have him now! I don’t want him back!
She began to cry, Jackie held her, Jackie could almost not believe this was the same Des who said she’d never let a guy affect her, and here she was falling into pieces over that worthless piece of crap called Lami. Jackie swore to herself that if anything, she’d make sure that Lami lived to regret losing Des to Krystina.
The next day, everyone except Jackie was at school. By then news of the breakup had started to spread. Everywhere Krys went she got eyeballed and Lami was getting major bad vibes from everyone including teachers. They were sitting in English class which they got although exams were already over, but instead grades were to be announced. Des sat far away from Lami and she kept getting up every 10 minutes to go to the bathroom to cry cos Lami and Krys sat together. Talib had a face like a wet Wednesday and John and Cat kept staring at Lami and Krys like they were aliens.
The school tannoy system sounded and asked every senior to report to the assembly.
Cat: Wonder that they want from us again, we’re seniors can’t they let us go in peace?
Jiz: Don’t think so, I think they actually enjoy harassing us.
Everyone packed their books and went. Cat, Jiz, Tyra, Cash, Talib avoided Lams and Krys like the bubonic plague.
Everyone went to the assembly hall and sat down. The principal and all the teachers were up on the platform. The principal cleared his throat and began talking
Principal: Good morning seniors, I know whenever we’ve asked you to come here, its always been to nag you guys or complain, but we just wanna let you all know how proud we are of you all for your hardwork and dedication over the years. Its almost over now and this class has certainly made an impact on this school, you as a collective has given the teaching faculty the best laughs and the most nightmares
Everyone burst into laughter; the Principal continued
: Anyways, the main reason we called you here is to announce this year’s Valedictorian. This student has been beyond excellent, this particular person has been an inspiration and a rock to the student body, if ever there was anything such as the perfect student this student redefines the term “perfect student”. They have gotten the best out of the school education and reports on them both in school and outside school has shown them to be a true diamond and an irreplaceable asset to anyone whose life they grace.
By now everyone was on their seat
: Well, with honour and great pleasure and pride, I announce this year’s Valedictorienne Miss Deshone Parker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone froze, then people started clapping looking around for Des, but no one saw her. Teachers looked at Cat & Co and they shook their head not knowing where Des was
Principal: Where is she?
Meanwhile, Des was in the bathroom when she heard a tannoy system announcing for her to come to the assembly asap. She quickly cleaned her face, tidied herself up and walked there, while mentally psyching herself up. As soon as she walked in, everyone got up and clapped for her, she was so shocked.
Principal: There she is, this year’s Valedictorienne, Deshone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Des froze; her mind was going through so much, her a Valedictorienne? She walked slowly shaking her head, the Principal motioned for her to come to the front and He handed her a red book
Principal: Now here is a compilation of what the teachers think is a summary of your greatest achievement in this school. You had the greatest number of As with a grand total of 989 As out of a possible 990. The only non A grade you had was when you took your Geometry test when you were sick and that was a B+. And you had the highest score on your SATs at 1550 in Junior High.
Everyone including Des was shellshocked. She had no idea she’d amassed all those As.
Principal: Congratulations Des, and I guess all you gotta do now is worry about your speech. Now everyone return to your classes, your yearbooks will be distributed to you all, good day.
He walked off the stage and everyone started leaving the hall. Cat, Lib, Jiz, Tyra, Cash all ran for Des hugging her
Cat: You go girl! I am so proud
Des started to smile
Des [quietly]: I cannot believe this! Oh My God, my mom’ll be so proud!
Jiz: I think she’ll be more than proud.
Cash: Yeah c’mon girl lets go, lunch’s on me
Tyra: Girl please! You know you ain’t got a dime to your name!
Everyone laughed
Cash: Whatever, okay then, lunch’s on Jackie, how ‘bout we all go hang out at hers tonight?
Talib: Yeah, I could do with a break. Congratulations Des, I’m proud of ya,
With that he hugged her. After a while they broke off and headed back to class. On her way there, Des heard her name being called. She looked back to see Lams and Krys, everyone turned back with her
Cat: Des, you wanna do this?
Des: Oh yeah, believe me I wanna and I gotta. This is our last week in school, about damn time I said some goodbyes to some things. Y’all pick me up a yearbook and if I’m not back in a while, come get me aiight?
Jiz: Jus’ don’t hit the bitch, remember she pregnant with his Junebug
Des just smiled, and walked towards Lami and Krys
Des [quietly and a tad politely]: Can I help you?
Lams and Krys were a bit worried
Lams: Umm we just wanted to say hi and that congratulations
Krys: Yeah Des
Des gave one of her dangerous laughs and shook her head
Des: Y’know what? Thanks but no thanks. How you two have the nerve to speak to me after lying to me and deceiving me, I really give y’all credit for that. I been tryna not talk to you both but I think I need to set you both straight. Thank you both for breaking my heart. To Krys for pretending to be my friend and stealing all the men who ever loved me, thank you okay? You’ve always wanted Lami for yourself and I always saw that in you but I ignored it, well guess what? Now you can have him. You finally did the one thing I couldn’t, use a baby to take him from me forever and now I hope you’re f***ing happy about it, I really hope so. And as for you Lami, for doing this to me and breaking my heart and trust, I think you are a disgusting worthless piece of little spineless sh*t. when no one was there for you including this sorry ass chick over here, I stood for you, I almost died for you you ingrateful idiot! I sacrificed myself for you and you do this to me? Now you wanna congratulate me? You’re even stupider than I think you were. Well its true what they say birds of the same feather flock together, I mean Krys your rep as school’s biggest ho’ has never really left you, and Lami yours as a dumbass jerk who doesn’t know how to sort out his life and be a man never stopped, I took so much crap for the both of you and y’all deserve each other, so have a f***ing fantastic life together, cos if one thing I know, I will have such a great life it’ll be amazing and everyday of your sorry ass lives you will regret this cos one other thing that is for sure, you will get exactly what is coming to you!
And without even giving them a chance to talk she walked off. Krys and Lami stood there dumbstruck
I had to end it there, even though its made up, I was getting so agitated I’ll get Angie to hit me with Chapter 80. Angie, please be nicer to my “babies” y’know who I mean lol, neways girl do ur thing!
