Subject: Would it be out of line to say I miss you?

He had been coming to terms with the loss of Storm. Life had taught him that, whether he wanted them to or not, the days still changed, and life still moved on, with or without him. He'd realized that life was short, and he'd better move on with the days or he would waste a great deal of something precious. Lacey's almost constant presence had been a great deal of comfort, however, and it had left him all the stronger. Right now, though, he was just taking a moment for himself. The apartment was quiet, and he sat near the sliding doors to the balcony, watching busy city life occur beneath him. He wore a pair of track pants and an old beater, his knees drawn up a little, his back leaned against the doorframe.

She made her way in quietly, as usual, content to just stay in the background and take care of her best friend. He was doing a lot better now, and as much as it made her feel bad to admit it - she was happy he was getting over Storm. They weren't even together when she died, so it didn't really mean as much...right? He laughed, tugging lightly on a strand of her silky hair. "My favorite." He directed his gaze back out the window. "It's awful busy out there." One corner of his mouth curled up in a mischevious smile. He'd already had some ideas, and was planning on showering her with presents, in appreciation for all the help she had been.. and because, frankly, outside of his family, he didn't have much of anyone else to buy gifts for.. it was his favorite part of the season afterall. "Sure".. he took a few minutes, then returned with their poptarts, along with a bag of chips that he had found, and put in a bowl, and a can of coke tucked under one arm for him, and spread the bounty out on the coffee table before them before dropping down onto the couch with a thud.
