I was up at the hospital on March 4th. I had been there previously with two friends, and I was a little worried about being on my own, so I can say with certainty that I made sure there was nobody else in there!! I entered the hospital by the hole in the fence near the animal lab, and negociated my way around the outside of the building, taking photos as I went. I passed maternity, x-ray, the main entrance and the nurses hostel, then went inside the building at the boiler house, went down the grand corridor, passed through maternity and back up the other corridor towards the main entrance. I was looking inside various rooms as I went and neither heard nor saw anything untoward. I then went outside back at the maternity end of the building, sat down on one of those oversized cotton reels and had a quick drink (of Pepsi, OK!!). I hadn't quite finished the film in my camera and thought it was a shame not to, so I headed back around towards the main entrance. I had passed maternity and was level with the x-ray department again when I heard a voice. I couldn't hear the words it said, until the last three words, "all right then" and then a door slammed and I do mean slammed - really loud. I had been inside x-ray on my travels before and had not seen a soul in there. In fact I must have covered about 95% of the hospital and was feeling really big and brave up until that point anyway. I seriously doubt if Linford Christie would have got to the fence before I did!!!It took me twenty minutes to walk up the hill from the woodland car park, and five minutes to get back down.
