Subject: Disappearing Data CD Files

I found this place by Internet search, and I hope maybe somebody can help. I have a data CD that suddenly refuses to make new files from the File-New File-New Microsoft Word File method. (When I name it, it turns into "New Microsoft Word Document1", then apparently doesn't exist.) This only started after some of the newer files created by that method had disappeared for no apparent reason. I tried to make a new file by going into Microsoft Word and saving it to Drive D, and it, too, disappeared. Every so often the comp complains that there is no room in the drive, but I know this is not the case; when it does show the amount of room in the drive, it shows a very, very tiny piece of the helpful little pie graphic as used. Plus, I don't have enough on that CD to daunt a floppy (what I was using before I tried to switch to CDs, so I actually kind of know when a floppy should and shouldn't be running out.)
