安心（趙薇）是緝毒女警，籌備與鐵軍結婚時，竟碰上令她著迷的毛杰（謝霆鋒）。激情一發不可收拾，無奈卻發現有了身孕，安心只好急急下嫁鐵軍。以為一切安好，怎知才是悲情的開端：她臥底作毒販時竟再遇毛杰，最後更出庭頂證對方令毛杰家破人亡。但律師因發現兩人過往關係，終助毛杰脫罪。毛杰誓要為父母血債血償，戀人竟成死敵。由岸西改編自國內暢銷小說，章法嚴謹，許鞍華的處理亦迴避了過火的煽情，把通俗素材提煉出一個飄零女性在命運擺佈下如何安身立命的視野。既切合她一貫獨特的女性角度，同時對人生的無常和苦難充滿悲憫，與她廿多年來的創作一脈相承。警匪類型無疑不是她的強項，但這回當大陸電影僱傭兵的嘗試，證明了她的作者導演身份牢不可破。
