I see it being made of iron. I see it being a double edged, pitted weapon. The blade is not long, a forearm's length. I see this being man's first real weapon against the forces that existed at the beginning of creation. I am certain that it might have gained power, as your swords seem to have done. Perhaps the giant blood did something to it as well. I could also see the sword being guarded by an Ancient Wyrm that has slept since the rise of man...

The sword's creators were a group of men who pooled their powers together in much the same way as I envision for the present day (see my ideas on magic from dragons and the use of such magic as it pertains to good and evil). These men were all blind. There were five of them, all burned by the first sight of the terrible Wyrm from whom they gained their powers. It was the great Wyrm that helped them to forge the blade, the making of which slew them. It is thought that the power used to create the sword increases as one approaches the lair of the Wyrm. Unfortunately it is also thought that the sword is possessed by the spirits of the men who forged it. Whether these spirits are malign, or benign, is not known...
