Subject: The Two Swords of Mandovainen

Mandovainen was one of the earliest mages to explore the nature of Law and Chaos. His earliest experiments were mostly to do with Law and the benefits of Order, yet as he explored he realized that one could not exist without the other. He found that if he used the forces of Law to create, an equally chaotic event would follow. These chaotic events were never related, and so he could not predict them. That is, not always.

Mandovainen found a way to harness both energies, using the knowledge of Law, he was able to govern his experiments so closely that he became a Master over Chaos. In effect, he had found a way to control the outcome of events. In this way did he begin to forge the sword Enli, which means Light.

Knowing the terrible price of creating such a magnificent sword would also require a tremendous backlash of chaotic power, Mandovainen attempted to channel the energy into Enli's twin, Vitara or Darkness.

The result was that Mandovainen was obliterated utterly. The two swords were flung as far apart as they could be upon both sides of the world.

It is said that a man might join the two together, end to end, but no one knows this for certain.

The two swords were used often. Enli's final owner was King Maduin. Maduin used the sword to create the most ordered city state in history: Domara. After one hundred years, Domara was swallowed by a volcano and Enli was lost forever.

Vitara was used by the Ghul King Framanthius in the west. It is said that Framanthius perished after confusing an eclipse for night. The light of the returning sun vanquished him and such was his power that he raged like a pillar of flame, sinking into the earth without a trace.
