A man whose sister was gunned down by an Egyptian immigrant July 4 at Los Angeles International Airport died from injuries suffered in an auto accident.

Nim Hen, 18, died Tuesday at a hospital, police Sgt. John Pasquariello said.

He is the younger brother of Victoria Hen, 25, an El Al employee who died after Hesham Mohamed Hadayet opened fire at the Israeli airline's ticket counter, killing two before he was shot to death by an airline security guard.

Nim Hen had been in a coma since he was hurt Nov. 16 in an accident in the San Fernando Valley. He was declared brain dead Thursday, said Linda Quon spokeswoman for Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills.

Officials said the death may have been caused by a fat emboli, a condition similar to a blood clot that sometimes occurs with serious injuries.

Police said Nim Hen's car swerved to avoid another car that pulled out of a shopping mall parking lot. Hen's car struck oncoming cars and a fire hydrant.

Detectives want to speak with the driver of the car that Hen swerved to avoid, described as a silver or gold Buick or Toyota sedan. That motorist could face manslaughter charges if investigators conclude he or she saw the crash and fled, authorities said.

Meanwhile, a family attorney, Stephen Solomon, said Hen's parents, Avi and Rachel Hen, are in deep sorrow.

"They have been grieving for their daughter, and their son has been in a coma ... and it's horrible, that's all," Solomon said.
