Date Posted: November 18, 2002 4:27:54 EDT Michael Stewart, 57, former member of the 1960s folk-rock group We Five, died Wednesday in Sacramento after a long illness. Stewart, born in Riverside, grew up in Southern California surrounded by music. His older brother John was a member of the folk group Kingston Trio. Michael Stewart's group, We Five, had its greatest hit song, "You Were On My Mind," in 1965, the year it received a Best New Group Grammy nomination. Moving into record producing, Stewart produced Billy Joel's breakthrough album "Piano Man," and helped create albums and singles for singers such as Tom Jones and Kenny Rankin. He also designed systems for Daly City's Digidesigns and for Adobe for use by musicians and arrangers. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
