Sukusiitoskertoimen avulla esitet��n, kuinka l�heisi� sukulaisia koiran vanhemmat geneettisesti kesken��n ovat. T�llaisen "todellisen" sukulaisuussuhteen selvitt�miseksi on hyv�, jos k�ytett�viss� on koirista vaikkapa 10 sukupolven sukutaulut. Koirat voivat nimitt�in olla hyvinkin l�heisi� sukulaisia, vaikka esim. kolmen sukupolven sukutaulussa ei olisi yht��n yhtiest� koiraa. Kuten Pasi esittikin, koiria vied��n ja tuodaan ymp�ri maailman. Joten se, ett� koirat ovat kotoisin eri maista ei ole tae siit�, etteiv�tk� koirat ole kesken��n l�hisukulaisia.

Sukusiitoskertoimen laskemista varten on tarjolla k�tevi� tietokoneohjelmia.
