Immediately there is an investigative judgment of the believer's life: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad (2 Corinthians 5:10).
According to Romans 14:12, Every one of us shall give account of himself to God. This is not the "Great White Throne" judgment of Revelation 20:11-15, commonly called the "Great Judgment Day." In that judgment, the lost are assigned to the lake of fire. Praise God, no person whose sins have been washed away by the blood of Christ need ever stand with that ungodly multitude to be condemned! Why? Because the blood of Jesus Christ [God's] Son cleanseth us from ALL sin (1 John 1:7). All means ALL, so the true believer has no listing of wickedness as the books of God are opened. He that believeth on [Christ] is not condemned (John 3:18). The iniquity that would have condemned him was obliterated when he trusted in the shed blood of the Saviour as payment for his sin. Because of his trust, the believer shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life (John 5:24).
Would you love to join the happiest people in the world and triumphantly shout, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1)? Then ask Christ to come into your heart and save you -- the sooner the better!
Earlier we addressed the question of why some Christians don't like to hear about the coming of the Lord. It's because of the inves investigative judgment that occurs as soon as we get to heaven. In 2 Corinthians 5, the pronouns we and us are used twenty-six times, always referring to Christians.
Since believers cannot be judged at the Great White Throne judgment, it only stands to reason that the investigation mentioned in 2 Corinthians 5:10 and Romans 14:12 (also called the "bema seat" in the Greek New Testament) has to do with the service rendered by them following their salvation. Thus, the "Bema," or Judgment Seat of Christ has to do with rewards for the faithful, not condemnation.
