Subject: A thread that actually discusses the band!

I've noticed quite a bit of spamming... er... "posting of topics not really related to TNL" recently. I don't have a problem with that; in fact, several of the threads (sex farm, for example) have been started up by myself. However, this is a semi-serious message. (NO, I'm NOT quiting the band! That'd be a happy happy joy joy message!)

On Friday night, I was allegedly supposed to be going out for dinner with my family to kick off the weekend. After all Mother's Day and another international (ok, every country except Sweden... it's ABBA day there instead) holiday occur this weekend HINT HINT... anyway, that never quite happened, but it was too late to get to the rehearsal and et cetera et cetera et cetera and I ended up going to "International House of Coffee" (my title for it), or, as the flyer called it, "CoffeeHouse." There was a guy who played/cried/yelped that song by staind followed up by piece-of-crap man and schulthesis and the gang playing something else and then... "I WILL SURVIVE" (CAKE)!!! anyway, there version bit, but mostly because I've listened to the Cake version so many times that I 1) have worn out the CD, and 2) won't accept any substitutes.

AND THEN... there was Thick & Spicy. I wanted desperately to put them down because I'm obsessed and it appears 13 is kinda nutty over the bass player but GEEZ they can play! Out of four songs, I'm pretty sure three of them were originals; Not bad for an alleged Red Hot Chilli Peppers cover band!

At some point during their first song, I realized I really really really needed to get my act together with TNL. It's more than cutting back on my drug habit coming to more rehearsals and being in tune more often; I actually made two albums by myself before joining TNL (I regret having to mention that, because they will be a new source of ridicule). I'm not getting up and screaming in Cartman style "DO MY SONGS DAMMIT!," in fact, I'm not even forcing you guys to even listen to stuff I've done. Rather, I'm kinda insulting myself for not doing more to support the group. After all, my lone contribution besides "It's-not-really-cross-dressing" and trombonerism is... Zamboni. Enough said.

I've got a song or two I'm toying around with. One is The Song Formerly Known as Mister Squirrel, which I'm actually turning into a funk song. Also, there's the basis for a good wailing song or two in Clint Eastwood and His Name is Pepe, the latter probably becoming the lyrical inspiration for Mister Squirrel. Plus, there's untitled stuff in the works, at least one of which sounds ska-ish.

I believe that, with any discipline at all, I'll be able to contribute greatly to this band. There have been numerous times during our sets that we've run into technical difficulties and I just brushed it off, but, now that I've heard what it can sound like, I'm willing to dedicate the complete EL HONKER to this band.

So look for me to actually do something for TNL in the near future!

P.S. Just a disclaimer to this new policy of mine... Memorial Day weekend's going to be awful tight but I'm gonna try to work it out.

P.P.S. We probably could've gotten a few bras thrown at us during CoffeeHouse and subsequently two detentions for the SWRers of TNL. Yes, I'm kidding, but only about the second speculative point.
