the young pup of ebon hue entered the lands at a slow walk. he cared not to stick to the shadows, for he doubted anyone had been here for a while. his nose caught a faint scent of a wolfess, but her presence had been long ago. he sighed as he cast his cold orbs to the water's surface, as if its reflection of himnself would help him understand who he was. he layed down with a huff of soft air, his forpaws folding across eachother and his fine head resting upon them. his icy orbs seemed to glaze over as he thought of his past, his families murder. he could still hear their dying howls as fresh as if he'd heard it a few paw steps ago. their faces and looks of agony haunted his dreams. their blood and body parts seemed to lurk in the shadows every now and then, as if their ghosts stalked and plauged him. his mind whirled in confusion as their voices chanted in his head, asking him how he could be happy when they died in pain, yet he managed to flee. with a cry of frustration he roared out, baring his teeth at imaginary foes. he was on his paws now, his gaze cast once again to the water's surface. with an angry paw he slapped the water, cauisng it's image to ripple. he vent his pain out on the water, deciding that was better than on another wolf. suddenly he shook, his body trembling with hate and fear. his orbs dared to look upon the water once more, the surface glittering and swirling causing his image to be deformed. with awe he realized he was just shown his inside identity. he held a twisted soul, full of sorrow for his lost innocence and family, yet full of hate and revenge for the cause of the murders. but the sun shined down on one part of the water, the area happening to be his heart. that was his kindness. his love for his sister and his new pack, the want to protect his new family and aide others. though this light was small, it's shine shot through the whriling darkness that surrounded it, creating a golden glow around his frame. suddenly he understood. he would always be lost. he would never be a pup agian for he had become an adult when he saw the pain in his mother's eyes, when he saw the pool of blood around his father, when he heard his brother's dying gasps and when he tasted the air of evil that surrounded the murderer. he would always seek revenge, yet never find it for his birth lands were far away. he would always be secluded and secrative around those he did not know for his trust had been lost when his alpha attacked his family. yet through all that his heart would remain pure. in the need to keep the last tie he had, his sister, he would grow strong and overcome the darkness that was behind him. he would protect her not from hate, but from love. he would warn those who dared to travel the path he had alreday trod, for he feared anyone becoming like himself. he undertsood now, and for once he did not grieve for his family. no more tears would be shed, no more pain would be felt. they were dead yes, but their deaths shouldn't cause his, and they wouldn't. he should never forget them, but shouldn't live by them either. for once the horrible memory was pushed to the back of his mind, where it settled instead of floating around. his shaking body became still and the water's surface became calm. he released a howl to the world, though not a howl of pain like all his others had been. it was a howl of freedom. his trapped and tourted soul was free. he was able to put his past behind him and move on. his gaze turned to the heavens where there seemed to be three glows upon a cloud. almost as if there were three suns. a warm breeze picked up, ruffling his pelt. it smelled of his mother, felt like his father, and spoke like his brother. they had watched his soul be released and now they were at peace. as the wind died he opened his orbs which had been shut in hopes of getting the smell, feel and sound of his family better. he turned his gaze to his pack lands, his home. he would return there, but not yet. even with his freedom he still felt like exploring. with a smile of happiness he tortted around the lake, his paw awaiting a passing fish in hopes of a quick meal.
