Subject: We finished the first Unit today!

Well, we did it ... I am happy to report that our 1st six weeks of school was a huge success! Patchwork Primers was a great purchase for this year. We didn't do everything listed in the unit, but that was because we were schooling during the summer and there was too much swimming and neighborhood kid-playing to do still!

This morning, we had our first Zoo Class and the topic was on Animal Babies. This was a great review for things we learned in the Zoology unit and my kids were very persistent in yelling out the answers! Guess I need to work on teaching them to raise their hands - LOL! Afterwards, we walked around the zoo. We'll continue this series for the rest of the year. We finished tonight by eating a "meat pie" ... more like a Shepherd's pie, but it was delicious. I truly believe my kids have learned a lot about the Indians.

We're next going to do a brief study on Thomas Edison and sea/ocean life as we prepare to vacation in Ft. Myers, Florida in a few weeks. I have Vol. 2 here at the house and will look over the Thomas Edison study for ideas. Then we'll continue with Units 2 & 3 and finish them before taking our Christmas break. My son is looking forwards to the Explorers unit and was pretending he was Christopher Columbus yesterday!

How is everyone else doing with their unit studies!?

Kris
