Thanks for the encouragement Kris and Sharon. I am going to have Gabriel work on some of the cd-roms that we have. He is also going to continue in a couple of workbooks that we started from the beginning. There is very little actucal writing in them and he enjoys them. Also, I hope that Laid Back Learning will give us further ideas. I will just put the Learning Language Arts Through Literature away for Isaiah next year. He loves the program and will be ready for the fourth grade books then.

I am looking more into the testing and some remedial methods. I spoke with two moms through my support group who have been through the testing and are working on integration issues. Their kiddos have higher needs than mine does, so it was helpful to hear of their experience with this particular testing program.

I do need to find something to teach research skills and early grammar that doesn't have much writing. We will use typing for spelling. I think that I am starting to get a bit of a handle on things. I could use any more suggestions that you think of though.

Kris, I did read the Moore's books, but we are not certain that we will be able to homeschool through high school and that makes a difference. If I ever have to put the kids back because of my health problems, then they need to be at a level that they can at least handle school. I hope and pray that this never happens, but dealing with major health issues is unpredictable. It was encouraging to know that I was not failing because my son couldn't read until he was 9.

I would love to find a book that has chapters about famous people, scientists, inventors, historians, etc., which have struggled in school. If Gabriel realizes that creative people who gave so much to our world are just like him, then maybe it would help him not get so frustrated.

Thanks and Blessings,
Liann
