Hi Sharon,

I haven't had time to post lately, but have checked out the board a few times. Gabriel is really enjoying being the boss! For those of you who are wondering what I mean, my older son Gabriel is teaching the science and hands on portion of PP vol. 2 to his younger brother. He has to do the research and plan out what he wants to do. He is covering an invetion per week or two. Some he goes into more depth. Somehow I think he will be stuck on flight for a really long time since that is his love. Eventually, Isaiah will get tired of it and ask him to move on! So far it is working out well, but we need to get things a bit more organized and consistant. They sure do seem to be having a ball though. They have even introduced an element of competition. They built models of steamboats and raced them in the tub. Now, Gabriel won and I'm not so sure that racing against the teacher is quite fair! :o)

Sharon, I believe that the Childhood of Famous Americans series has a biography on George Washington Carver. I know that many bookstores carry these inexpensive paperbacks. They would also be available on line. My boys just love the series. We have used them for read alouds and Gabriel has read a couple on his own. They were real motivators for us because he wanted to read about his invention heroes. Since I have other read alouds going, he is reading them on his own and giving me the details. I really miss it though. I am tempted to read a few chapters out loud to them some days.

Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Liann
