Subject: BRAISED BEEF TIPS

2 lbs.boneless beef,cut in cubes
2 Tbsp.shortening
10 1/2 oz.can condensed beef consomme or beef broth
2 Tbsp.soy sauce
1/3 cup burgundy or red wine
1 clove garlic,minced
1/4 tsp.onion salt
1/4 cup water
2 Tbsp.cornstarch

Cut meat into cubes.Melt shortening in large skillet;brown meat on
all sides.Stir in remaining ingredients except water and cornstarch.
Heat to boiling,then reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 1
hour.Blend cornstarch with cold water;stir into meat mixture.Stir
constantly until mixture boils and thickens.Serve on hot rice or
noodles.
