The Ravenclaw common room was almost completely empty by the time the clock hit nine o'clock on a chilly Tuesday evening. There was few fourth years, playing chess (or onlooking, in some cases), two or three fifth year girls curled up on the sofa, chatting and then there was Seth Wood, sitting in one of the armchairs near the fire, trying to finish Potions homework before tomorrow and not make the essay ("Sleeping Draught Potion vs. Sleeping Charm; discuss advantages and disadvantages") look like he'd done it about twelve hours before, like he was now. Something about sixth year seemed more hectic than fifth year. Probably because, with Quidditch practice, making sure Felicity was ok and the issues with Paige to 'deal with', homework, practising charms and writing essays didn't rank as high as they probably should have on his priority list. Sue him, if you like. He's got far too much going on in life at the moment. Well, sort of.

His dad had been over the moon when he found out that Seth had made Chaser on the Ravenclaw team. Anything to do with Quidditch, Oliver got excited about, so this wasn't a shock to anyone, really. All the same, it was nice to have his father's praise, since, with Jack and Felicity to 'compete' with for attention (not that it was always wanted), it didn't come often. The congratulations even extended to offering to teach him some things when Easter break rolled around. That made Seth blissful, and even got him to the point where he had a small calendar shoved under his pillow, marking off the days till Easter. It certainly made Quidditch practices more easier to take; the captain kind of reminded him of his father - and not in a good way.

Felicity was part of the hectic side of his life. Jack was fine at Hogwarts; he adapted well, blended into the crowds and lived just as normally as any student there. No problems for big brother Seth to start splitting hairs over. Felicity, well, she was a different story. Lately, she'd been telling him she was homesick, and asked if he could owl their parents to see if she could come home. Homesick? Despite the fact that she was in her fourth year at the school? Seth couldn't figure out why she'd be homesick (unless it had something to do with Scott and their tattered affair, he'd made a mental note to ask him but hadn't gotten around to it yet) but asked Adhara (of all people) and a few other Gryffindors to make sure she didn't do something drastic like try and steal a Hippogriff and go back home.

Then there was Paige. Seth was, for the first time, smitten, head-over-heels for a girl. Love? Probably not. It's a rarity that you experience love at sixteen. All the same, every moment that he was with her was pretty damn swell for him. The only problem was that Paige, well; she was a bit of a wild-child, always suggesting new and wacky things for them to do, which occasionally involved sneaking off from class and other rebellious things as such. Her latest idea, from the day before? "Let's go and find some unicorns in the Forbidden Forest!" Seth had laughed at it, but then when he realized she was, in fact, quite serious, he almost felt ill. No, you didn't just go wandering through the Forbidden Forest! Especially when there are quite possibly little things like werewolves running around there! Merlin knew when she was planning this little escapade should take place, but Seth could only hope she'd forget.

With a messy and rushed conclusion to mark its end, he put the essay aside for now. It would have to do for the Professor, because he was tired and really thought that if he wrote any more, his hand would fall off. Not cool. Yawning, he noticed that the fourth years were starting to pack up, as were the fifth years were with their conversation. He should have gone to bed but figured, nah, another five minutes. Just to think, yeah? And unless someone with a decent conversation came his way, he was sticking to that.
