[ Briar was caught unaware and the blade sliced his shoulder. he put a hand over it, dunking into the water to leave the waterfall and slow he blood flow. meanwhile, outside, the tree that had struck at Krim had lost a branch, and underwater the theif let out a yelp, losing a good deal of air. he resurfaced still near the deeper part of the pool, and called out as he gasped for a breath:

"so that's the end of it then?"

[ the blood that had come from his leg and arm had indeed slowed, and the wounds weren't really that bad. Briar groaned almost silently-he had a sinking feeling he'd lost, and told himself that he hadn't been at his best (though he neglected to point out [to himself] that he was fighting a highly trained warrior). he paddled to a steep bank and hauled himself out, hiding any wince of pain or limp that he might normally have given. however, the theif's eyes were watering when he remembered the tree and there was a dull ache in his right forearm that had nothing to do with his own cuts and bruises.
