They are web sites hosted by Westboro Baptist Church, which is actually a small paramilitary cult near Topeka, Kansas, headed by Fred Phelps. (He calls himself "Reverend", but I cannot bring myself to use that title with that man.)

Landover Baptist is the group which picketed Matthew Shepard's funeral in Laramie, Wyoming. They have also picketed synodal meetings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (of which I am a member), as well as the assemblies of the Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church, and the Methodist Church.

When countered, Fred Phelps and his group retaliate by repeatedly suing the the person who counters them into bankruptcy.

You can learn more about Fred Phelps and Westboro Baptist by reading this article:

http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/atohate.htm

-- although I will caution you, some parts of this story depict violence perpetrated by Fred Phelps against his family which is so violent, I found myself nauseous.

Landover, on the other hand, is a parody which has crossed the lines from "parody" through "bad taste" through "mean-spirited" and is now approaching "malevolent".

B.
