Subject: Guns & Roses: deader than Kurt Cobain

You know something...I never, ever expected GNR's career to be so damn brief. Every time I turned around, there was something going wrong with these guys. Funny enough, they had the most "together" debut album of all the poodle-hair shit bands around; I was hoping they'd get away from that cock-rock mentality and just focus on making music. Nope...they had to try too hard to be rock stars.

Look at a band like Aerosmith. Thirty years down the road and still going strong, WITH the first lineup I might add....who'd have thunk it? Plus, during the early 80s, everyone thought that Steven Tyler was all set to become the next rock & roll heroin casualty. Nope...the aero guys pulled out of the tailspin; they're still flying high in 2001 with that "Jaded" song (sure don't sound like it's title) and they ain't once looked back.

Well...GnR had a chance to achieve that level of success. Only problem is, Axl's a PSYCHO who can't hold it together. I don't know if it has to do with his dad being a minister, which ain't too good for anybody, I think; but after hearing about what he did at that concert in Montreal, the one where James Hetfield had to go to the hospital because of being burned by the pyrotechnics (fuck Metallica btw), it's too clear that Axl (that's William Bailey, what's wrong with that name, slickster) was too interested in partying (mostly smoking and drinking, but probably more than that) to worry about his voice (it gave out during that concert, he stormed off stage, and there was a riot - nice one Axl Pose).

Oh well...at this point, Slash is off doing his Snake Pit thing, touring with AC/DC (not a shred of originality, but it pays the bills, I guess); W. Axl tried to do something with a "new" GnR but nothing came of it; other members? Haven't heard nothing from Izzy, or the old rhythm section. Always found it so ironic that they fired that drummer for getting high too much, and look what happened to the whole damn band. Guns & Roses nowadays have no career; they can't survive in the world of grunge followed by "rapcore" and dissonant "nouveau thrash" or whatever it's called nowadays; they're deader than the so-called grunge "pioneer", Kurt Nobrain (another psycho).

Cock-rock is dead...never to rise again...
