Subject: What's Axl trying to do?

I'm just wondering what you guys reckon Axl is trying to do with this new album.

Personally I think Axl's got some serious issues. He's seems to have the mentallity that if he's not centre of the worlds attention he's a failure. That's why he's taking this huge risk with the change in direction of the band because he's worried that if released the music he's known for it won't be a massive success like Appetite or the Illusion's because it sounds dated.

I just don't think it's feasible that someone could so drastically change their musical tastes. Has anyone read the horrifying reports that he's got Shaq O ' Neil rapping in one of the songs? Thats what I'm talking about, pure trendy shit, designed to be like the crap people are currently listening to.

Really it's a problem many old bands are facing - how to appeal to a younger audience while still attracting the old fans. I think good music will stand out anywhere no matter what style it is. I'm 19, so it just goes to show that not all kids are listening to nu-metal bands or have turned into psyco-goth freaks. Unfortunately people like Axl seem to think that the only way to stay popular is to follw every trend that comes along. Not many bands manage it, look at the shit Metallica are churning out now!

That's why I am not optamistic about Chinese Democracy. In fact I don't think it'll even be a comercial success, purely because of image. Axl will always be seen as an Old School rocker and that tag will never escape him.

Don't get me wrong I'll certainly try listening to Chinese Democracy with an open mind when it finally comes out, but if sounds anything like Oh My God, i'll probably pack it away and listen to some Megadeth.
