First of all, Lincoln was not much on following the ideas of the founding fathers. The entire war of Northern Aggression points out that Lincoln wasn't interested in the problem of slavery in the south so much as he was wanting to maintain a system where the north obtained much of it's wealth from the south through unfair taxation and laws which benefitted only the northern businessmen and shippers of goods internationally. By his own admission, he stated that he didn't care a wit about the "negro" and would continue the practice if it would maintain the union which he favored. The founding fathers brought this nation into existence because of unfair and unjust practises which the population could not tolerate...and stated that such injustice justified our separation from England. The southern states also felt the same thing, and felt justified in separating themselves from the northern states, which they had every right to do under our present Constitution. Lincoln sent in the Army to drag those separate states, kicking and screaming in protest, back into a union they wanted no part of. Lincoln was the worst President we've ever had.
