Beim laden der Startdiskette sollte der MSCDEX-Treiber natürlich mitinstalliert werden, damit er nach dem booten im DOS vorhanden ist. Aufgerufen wird der Treiber in der Datei CONFIG.SYS bzw. AUTOEXEC.BAT , die sollte auch vorhanden sein.
Falls nicht:Unter DOS EDIT eingeben und man kommt in den Editor, in dem sich das entsprechende FILE anlegen lässt.
Die Zeile im Autoexec.bat kann dann etwa so aussehen:

LOADHIGH C:\MSCDEX.EXE /D:TPCD001 /M:15


MSCDEX muss dann auch im richtigen Pfad, hier c:\mscdex.exe liegen. D: und M: kennzeichnen weitere Parameter des CD-ROMS.
