Yet again she was alone, her daughter was grown now, and out on her own. Her mate, or so-called mate, was gone, he was simply another greedy stallion. The bitter hatred in her heart raged, but acting on emotion was stagnant, she simply stood, staring off into the distance, wistful look of her wild past haunted her, teased her. Now she was an aging, alone mare, without a hope in the world.
Black mane fluttered on her muscular neck, elegant legs below her stood firmly. Tail whisped in passing breezes, nostrils flared to catch scents of anything interesting. Eyes scanned horizon before taking a deep, heaving sigh, she closed her eyes, letting the cold winds caress her ebony coat silently, the crescent on her forehead, the color of the full moon, gleamed slightly.
She wondered, was this it? Was this her fate, to simply wait out her days here, until she died a lonely death, all alone in the world, with no true, passionate love? She sighed yet again, whispering in repsonse to her bitter thoughts, "I suppose so."
