Date Posted: 15:52:26 07/24/02 Wed In reply to: Jason 's message, "Engine Mods - Bang for the Buck" on 09:04:52 07/24/02 Wed Looks like a bunch of good ideas :) Here's my 2 cents. #1- exhaust (catback) , I went with 3" and a high flow muffler. It is a shame to take off a perfectly good stainless exhaust system, but if you cut it off close to the muffler and look inside there is only a 1" hole through it! No wonder it was so quiet. #2- Shift improvement (not really a motor mod) ,but , This I couldn't live without. The stock shifts are way too mushy and eratic. I used the Hypertech PPIII. If you plan on larger tires at some point it is a good investment. If not , maybe Jet or a shift kit. #3-Intake air, Gotta let it breathe! That little tiny funnel is unacceptable, IMO. I cut the front of the air box and retained the paper filter. It helped a little and the price is right $0. (The reason I stayed with paper is when it gets wet it plugs, I had a buddy with a K&N hydraulic his 460 going through a big puddle.) K&N is an improvement for flowing more air just gotta watch'em around big water, plus I'm hearing some problems with the FIPK popping off the throttle body in the rough stuff. Makes me nervous, JMHO. There are plenty more but those are my top three. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
