Subject: More from India

I've just returned from Delhi and thought I should post a few words on the show.
It started off with Jonas and Andrea laying down a blues/shuffle beat and Shawn playing over that. This blues jam moved into Voodoo Chile with Shawn singing some of the words and scatting the rest. This was followed by Time Is The Enemy, and then Jonas did his slap/strum bass solo. It was evident that he wasn't very pleased with the sound, repeatedly holding his hand up to his ear as if he couldn't hear himself and gesturing to the sound guys. A little duet with Andrea followed and then came the drum solo. I can't recall exactly, but I think there was Good People after that. They returned to the blues/shuffle thing and Shawn took a long Hendrix-tinged solo that almost verged on Star Spangled Banner at times. As far as I can remember, Rice With The Angels ended the show. It was a little more than an hour. I have the entire show (and the afternoon soundcheck too) on video and I'll check if I'm hopelessly wrong.
The music was raw and intense with Jonas and Andrea letting Shawn take most of the spotlight. This was a good show but it certainly wasn't the best of the tour. The Tripura House private show in Calcutta in front of the Royal Family takes that honour, imho. What a sweet, sweet show that was!
Well! It was fantastic watching the band at Calcutta, Shillong and Delhi. Let's hope they can come back next year.
Namaste from India,
Orko
