Subject: Re: Any Gigs in Memphis?
In reply to: Walter Gaskins 's message, "Any Gigs in Memphis?" on 22:26:12 10/12/02 Sat

Shawn played a rather dreadful gig at TGs a week or so ago, a place where several months ago the bar tender and many of the redneck inhabitants booed him and his bass player Adam Sutton who at the time was playing percussion, while both he and Shawn were singing Indian Karnatic prayers/mojos to guests from out of town. The booing and threats from the blue haired ladies got so awful that the "Time Bandits" were barely lucky to get out of the place alive. For some unknown but predictable reason the leader of the Time bandits actually begged/bribed TG's to let them play again where it was an even worse debacle. It is apparent that drunk redneck enthusiasts do not have an ear for Shawn doing Jimi's Third Stone from the Sun or anything other than depressing tear in my beer dirges.
However Shawn, Adam, Jerry Mac,and Johnny Halliday along with some other artists that have been recording at Thunderbolt Studio's under the Memphis Legend Kenny Wayne Baker, where it should be noted that Shawn has been engineering and playing with all kinds of local Memphis artists there for the past 6 weeks, were down on the Highland Strip watching Mandalin Mark, Randal "Bandjo Man Morton" and company, turn out the whole Highland street with an incredible Blue grass show which they perform every Friday Nite at "Newbys". Shawn and his entourage were all there as was the great one himself Kenny Baker, and his beautiful new singing star who sang "Me and Bobby McGee" to a jawdropped audience.
Later that evening, Shawn's agent and national security advisor Jerry the Mac entered into intense negotiations for a deal for Shawn and some of his artists which he has been recording with to play upcoming gigs at Newby's possibly as early as sometime next week.
Shawn's spirits are very high, he has lost weight, and thanks to a merciful god he is not scratching near as much as he used to.
Hopefully Shawn can continue to progress and now not be condemned to play Country Music anymore.

Stayed tuned for updates.
