hey man

yeah I particularly like Planet X. I used to be into DT in a big way but kinda grew out of them, ofcourse there is no denying DT skills but after listening to the likes of Holdsworth and Shawn petrucci no longer holds the 'god like' status that he once did. For me the most appealing thing about Planet X is Virgil Donati, I have been to one of his clinics and it was the best $15 dollars I have ever spent!!
He talked about his approach to practice/learning his instrument by systematically going through all the different meters and then combining them together, he talked a lot about different groups of numbers and then combining those i.e 4/4 then 3/4 then 5/4 etc. So his approach is actually very similar to shawns in that respect. The other incredible thing is that even though he is considered to be one of the greatest(if not the greatest) drummer in the world he still practices 10 hours a day when he can. That to me is *really* inspiring!!

peace

james
